The Ronen Chamber Ensemble’s collaboration with UIndy features perspectives on native music. Francis Poulenc’s Sextet for piano and winds is a work “as frankly French as Stravinsky’s is Slav,” while UIndy alumnus Matthew Bridgham’s first Ronen commission celebrates Indiana’s bicentenary. Paul Krasnovsky leads the ensemble with soloist Mitzi Westra in Luciano Berio’s 1964 suite Folk Songs, a cycle that incorporates folksongs from Armenia, Italy and Kentucky, and in languages ranging from Azerbaijani to Occitan.
