The Beecher Singers, Michelle Louer, director; Jennifer Roig-Francoli, violin, leader
The Beecher Singers and Dr. Michelle Louer combine for a concert that could only happen in 2017: a commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. Martin Luther, on October 31, 1517, nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Schlosskirche (castle church) in Wittenberg, Germany, and the course of history changed forever. Music by great Lutheran composers, such as Bach and Pachelbel, takes center stage, but music by composers from other denominations that arose during the early years of the Reformation — the Calvinists and the Anglicans — is sampled as well.
