At the Crossroads: Imagining a New Response to the LGBT Community

October 10 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm University of Indianapolis – Health Pavilion Annis Auditorium Free

When it comes to same-sex relationships, Karen Keen provides thoughtful, balanced, and spiritually discerning perspectives. With pastoral sensitivity and genuine respect for biblical authority, Keen breaks through current stalemates in the debate surrounding faith and sexual identity.

Her fresh, evenhanded discussion of same-sex marriage will appeal to both traditional and progressive church leaders, Christian clergy and laity, and people who feel torn between faith and sexuality.

About the Speaker:

Karen R. Keen is a biblical scholar, author, and spiritual care provider in Durham, North Carolina. She has taught in both academic and church settings. Trained as a spiritual director in the Ignatian tradition, Keen also provides spiritual care to pastors and ministry leaders through her private practice, The Redwood Center for Spiritual Care and Education.

Her book Scripture, Ethics, and the Possibility of Same-Sex Relationships (Eerdmans) is the culmination of 20 years of research and prayer sparked by her own journey through faith and sexuality. Keen earned her M.S. in education (counseling) from Western Oregon University, M.A. in exegetical theology from Western Seminary, and Th.M. in biblical studies from Duke Divinity School.
