Moderated By: Katherine Fries & Nathan Foley
This event is a part of the university lecture series, “Pressing Forward, Pressing On” which explores the learning goals of Creativity and Performance with an eye to the nature of persistence and grit. Our event considers these things with regards to the maker/ educator dealing with the understanding and application of craft/craftsmanship. A panel of three makers/ educators has been assembled to discuss this topic of craft and how they have pushed and strived for excellence in their field.
The students will experience three professionals who will share their journey in the art field. Through an in-depth conversation amongst the panelists, the students will learn what grit and perseverance are necessary to succeed in the arts.
Through the conversations that happen within the panel, the goal is to highlight the unique processes and materials all of the panelists investigate within their professional practice. All three have very unique skill sets, which will give a glimpse into the diversity of the creative processes.
