Lift Thy Brow: Lyrical Music for String Orchestra
Jeremy Rhizor, curator and guest concertmaster
Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra is thrilled to welcome Jeremy Rhizor as Curator and Guest Concertmaster for Lift Thy Brow: Lyrical Music for String Orchestra. Experience the concerto gorsso repertoire of the turn of the eighteenth century through the works of the English composer Charles Avison and his prominent Italian counterparts: Arcangelo Corelli, Francesco Durante, and Francesco Geminiani. This program for strings is anchored by orchestral arrangements of music by Domenico Scarlatti and Corelli and features principal players of the orchestra.
Noted for playing “virtuosically but with fluid grace” by The New York Times, Rhizor performs on the violin with early music organizations throughout North America such as Aureas Voces in Nova Scotia, Alchymy Viols in Indiana, Ensemble VIII in Texas, Mountainside Baroque in Maryland, the Washington Bach Consort in Washington, DC, and Bach Vespers and the American Classical Orchestra in New York.
The concert will be open to limited, socially-distanced, in-person audiences.
Free admission for UIndy students, faculty, and staff.
