The bustling energy of Paul Hindemith, the hypnotic repetition of David P. Jones, and the melancholic song settings of Federico Garcia Lorca highlight this evening of ensemble works from the 20thand 21stcenturies. Our distinguished wind faculty feature Hindemith’s classic Kleine Kammermusikfrom 1922. Joana Genova and Terence Mayhue team for Jones’ “Legal Highs” for violin and marimba. Mitzi Westra and Nemanja Ostojić present Spanish songs of Garcia Lorca. The evening opens with the premiere of a recently completed Sonata for flute and piano by the acclaimed American composer Kevin Beavers, performed by Tamara Thweatt and Matthew Bridgham.
