Faculty Artist Series Opening Concert with The Indianapolis Quartet and Ryan Behan
Presented by Katz, Sapper & Miller
Zachary DePue and Joana Genova, violins; Michael Isaac Strauss, viola; Austin Huntington, cello; Ryan Behan, piano
The Indianapolis Quartet welcomes UIndy faculty pianist Ryan Behan to open the season with a program of masterworks by Beethoven and Brahms. Celebrating the Beethoven anniversary year, the evening opens with the intriguing combination of energy and ambiguity in the composer’s String Quartet in B-flat, Op. 18, No. 6 (“La Malinconia”). Ryan Behan performs Liszt’s solo transcription of the “Liebestod” from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde and concludes the evening by teaming with our acclaimed resident quartet in Johannes Brahms’ dramatic masterpiece from the 1860s, the Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34.
Open and free of charge to UIndy students, faculty, and staff only, due to COVID-19 restrictions. General public: Check back for forthcoming information on free, live streaming information.
