Brandon Meeks Quintet
Brandon Meeks, bass; Rob Dixon, saxophone; Josh Strange, vibraphone; Austin Morgan, piano; Dorian Phelps, drums.
For nearly twenty years, Brandon Meeks has been a vibrant part of Indianapolis’s soulful and eclectic music scene. As a bass player, he has created countless compelling live music experiences with every artist in the city’s jazz scene as well as with many national artists. Meeks has had the good fortune of working with noteworthy creative minds such as Don Cheadle, Robert Glasper, Black Milk, and Thundercat. Currently, Brandon has teamed up with a new collective of exciting regional musicians from Indianapolis and Cincinnati to explore musical ideas inspired by modern jazz and hip-hop visionaries like Christian McBride, Roy Hargrove and Madlib. The group combines the style of classic straight-ahead jazz with a 21st-century streetwise aesthetic, and is guaranteed to uplift, inspire, and entertain all who experience the music.
