The imaginative sound world of George Crumb, a recent work of John Berners, and the rhythmic energy of Bohuslav Martinu highlight this evening of ensemble works from the 20th and 21st centuries. Our distinguished wind faculty feature Berners’ tribute to Bartók entitled “Bela’s Village.” Nemanja Ostojić and Terence Mayhue team for Crumb’s “Mundus Canis” for guitar and percussion. The evening opens with Martinu’s Three Madrigals for violin and viola and concludes with Dylan Champagne’s recent “Bridges, Breaks, and Bells” for alto saxophone and piano.
