Barthold Kuijken, conductor and flutist
Renowned Belgian conductor and Baroque flutist Barthold Kuijken leads the IBO in “The Colorful Telemann,” a tribute to one of our favorite composers. The program will be recorded in the days following the concert for a multi-volume IBO CD project on the Naxos label. Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) was a contemporary of Johann Sebastian Bach and possibly the most prolific composer in the history of Western music. The evening features a diverse selection of Telemann’s music, including the Ouverture in C minor; Concerto in D, for solo violin, solo cello, and two solo flutes; Concerto in G, for two solo flutes and solo bassoon; and Sinfonia melodica in C, for two solo oboes and solo bassoon, composed when Telemann was 83!
Tickets: $20 general; $15 seniors; $10 students; free to UIndy faculty, staff, and students with ID. Tickets available at the door or visit www.indybaroque.org
